Rodney Lee Elmore, 52, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at Willard, Utah.
He was born on June 18, 1956 in Clarinda, Iowa, a son of Virgil Wayne and Lillian Rebecca Grissom Elmore.
Rod served in the U.S. Army as a truck driver and served in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Wisconsin and Wiesbaden, Germany.
He considered Canon City, Colorado his home town.
Rod married Julie Willie on August 17, 1984 in Malad, Idaho.
He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 8, 2006 and is a member of the Forest Hills Ward.
Rod was a very talent and smart man who worked in various occupations in the western states. His favorite occupation was working in the oil fields.
He enjoyed reading, computers, mechanics, scouting, but most of all spending time with his twelve year old son, Jacob.
Surviving is his wife, Julie, one son, Jacob, both of Brigham City, two daughters, Jerri Ann Elmore of Colorado Springs, CO; Becky Jean (Eddie) Gillespie, Council Bluffs, Iowa; step-daughter, Lindsay (Coby) Reay of Penrose, eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, off of whom he loved very much. He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Myrl Wakley, of Malad, ID; one brother, Jim Elmore, Osceola, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Gillies Funeral Chapel 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah 84302 to help the family offset funeral expenses.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Hills LDS Ward Chapel, 25 North 300 East, Brigham City.
The family will greet friends and family on Friday at the church from 1:30 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
