Lynn Keith Gilgen, 69, passed away Friday, February 14, 1997 in the Oneida County Hospital of an extended illness.
He was born at the Homestead Ranch in Daniels, Idaho, on June 29, 1927, the seventh child of Fred and Louisa Stauffer Gilgen. He received his education at Daniels and Logan, Utah. He served his country in the U.S. Army, Infantry Division, during World War 11.
On December 7, 1946, he married Carol M. Evans in Malad.
Lynn farmed in the Daniels and Marsh Valley areas. Over the years, he also was employed by Pacific Fruit Express, Thiokol, Crowthers’ Mill, Magic Gas and as a contract mail carrier.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Malad; a daughter, Judy Vaughan (Sherm) of McCammon; a son, Brent Gilgen (Martha) of Boise; two sisters, Blanche Bailey of Salt Lake City, Utah and Irene Gibbs of Malad; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Lynn Ray Gilgen; three brothers and one sister.
“God knew that you were suffering, that the hills were hard to climb, so he gently closed your eyelids and whispered, ‘peace be Thine’. In tears we watched you sinking, we watched you fade away, our hearts were nearly broken, you fought so hard to stay. It broke our hearts to have you go, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.
Funeral services for Lynn were held Tuesday, February 18, at noon in the Benson Horsley Funeral Home in Malad. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
Lynn Gilgin, 69, of Malad died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, in the Oneida County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at noon in the Benson Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North, Malad, where friends may call on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the services.
