WILSON CHANDLER

Wilson Call Chandler, 75, died Sunday afternoon, April 29,1990 at Pocatello Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 12, 1914 at Rigby to William James and Mary Nancy Call Chandler. He was reared in the Rigby and Preston areas, and later attended Ricks College, University of Idaho, Southern Branch (Idaho State University), and graduated from Henagers Business College in Salt Lake City.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World Ward II, stationed at Pearl Harbor.

He married Arduth Brown Feb. 24, 1939 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

He worked 35 years for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce at Idaho Falls and with the local, state and national Life Underwriters Association. He served on the Bannock County Planning and Zoning Commission and was chairman for several terms of the Bannock County Democratic Party.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving a mission to the North Central States. He also served as bishop of the 34th Ward and on the high council of the Alameda and University stakes. He and his wife were officiators for eight years at the Idaho Falls LDS temple.

He enjoyed golfing, racquetball and watching athletic events. In 1983 he was honored as the “Super Ram/Poky Booster” of School District No. 25.

He is survived by his wife, of Pocatello; four sons, Dennis Chandler, Salt Lake City, Steven Chandler, Sandy, Utah, Joseph Chandler, Meridian and Robert Chandler, Show Low, Ariz.; four daughters, Mrs. Rodney (Kathleen) Parrish, Pocatello, Judy Chandler, American Falls, Mrs. Steven (Pamela) Hunter, Idaho Falls, and Mrs. Timothy (Peggy) Harris, Burley; 29 grandchildren; three brothers, Samuel Chandler, Daly City, Calif., Jay Chandler, Chattsworth, Calif., and Homer Chandler, Provo, Utah; and five sisters, Mrs. Leah Waldron, Malad, Mrs. Edwin (Helen) Harrison, Plain City, Utah, Mrs. Verna Harris, Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Leland (Dove) Fife, Nampa, and Mrs. Dean (Mildred) Austin, Eureka, Calif. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and two grandsons.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the 23rd Ward, 1440 Lakeview Dr., with Bishop Carl Hogg officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. To 9 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave. and at the church on Wednesday from noon until time of services. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery.
