WILLLORIE ‘ORIE’ THOMAS LEWIS

MALAD – Wilorie Thomas Lewis, 96, longtime Malad resident, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2000 in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born July 27, 1903 in Malad, a daughter of Emmett Hilary and Martha Jones Thomas. She grew up and was educated in Malad.

When she was 16 years old she married Clif Lewis of Rupert. They moved to California and worked at several jobs. She owned and operated a business preparing and packaging dried fruits and nuts in unique packages and sold them at the famous Farmers’ Market. Among her customers were Lucille Ball, Shirley Temple and Elizabeth Taylor.

The past several years she had resided in Malad. Her husband, Clif, a daughter, Adeline, her parents and 12 brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Nell Hess of Malad, a sister-in-law Faye J. Thomas of Pocatello, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, January 26, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
