Wilma Bonita Wigington Phillips, 13 September 1935

DOWNEY – Wilma Bonita Wigington Phillips, 67, of Downey passed away at Oneida County Hospital in Malad following a sudden illness.

She was born September 13, 1935 in Lava Hot Springs, ID, a daughter of William Morgan and Melleta Jane Kofoed Vaughan. She attended elementary school and high school in Lava Hot Springs.

On November 21 [or 23], 1951, she married Monte Duane Wigington at Lava Hot Springs. He passed away, January 4, 1997. She later married Grant P. Phillips in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Idaho Falls, ID for a short time, and then returned to Downey where they lived for the past 15 years.

She enjoyed bowling, league pool, motorcycles, camping, fishing, crocheting and their farm animals. Her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren, who will miss her greatly. She was very devoted to her husband, Grant, who she lovingly cared for.

Survivors include her husband, Grant Phillips, Downey, ID; three sons, William Duane (Cathy) Wigington, Chubbuck, ID; Jim Wayne (Lynn) Wigington, McCammon, ID; Vaughan David (Rebecca) Wigington, Longview, WA; three daughters, Sherri Jane Wigington (fiancé Mitch), Lava Hot Springs, ID; Melanie Ann Young (fiancé Mark), Virginia, ID; Tawnie Rae Wigington, Downey, ID; a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Larry) Allen, Farr West, UT; 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles Vaughan and Harold Vaughan; a grandson, Daniel Wigington; a niece, Stephanie Vaughan and a daughter in law, Tracey Wigington.

Funeral services will be held march 13, 2003 at the Lava Hot Springs LDS Church, with Bishop T. Paul Davids officiating. Interment will be in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening March 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
