WILLIAM RUSSEL PRICE

RIVER HEIGHTS, Utah — William Russel Price, 39, of River Heights, former Malad resident, drowned Saturday [May 28, 1988] in the Selway River in northern Idaho.

He was born Aug. 8, 1948 in Malad, to William Williams and Helen LaRue Daniels Price. He attended schools in Malad and graduated from Malad High School and the LDS Seminary.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1974. He also received a commission as second lieutenant in the BYU ROTC. At the time of his death he was a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he served as C**Battery commander for the 8063rd field artillery.

He[sic] Aug. 31, 1972 he married Elizabeth Bott[sic] of Brigham City, Utah, in the Logan LDS Temple. Since then they have lived in Provo, Brigham City, Hyrum, and River Heights, Utah.

He has worked in the insurance field, most recently with New York Life.

He was an active member of the LDS church, served a mission to New York, and was a Seventy in the River Heights Third Ward LDS Church. In the past he has been Elder’s Quorum president, Young Men’s President, Sunday school president, Primary teacher and chorister.

He enjoyed all sports, especially coaching and helping with youth sports programs. He also served as a community resource volunteer for the Utah Parents Center in Logan.

He is survived by his wife and five sons, Daniel Russel, William John, Christian Bott, Thomas Eugene and Scott Jorgensen Price, all of River Heights; his parents of Malad; two brothers; John Price, Coeur d’Alene; Roger Price, Malad; and grandparents, Russel O. and Annie LaRue Daniels, Malad.

Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday in the Providence (Utah) Stake Center with Bishop James Jenkins officiating. Friends may call at the Stake Center, Sixth East 800 South, Providence, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and for one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, Malad.
