BILL R. THOMAS

William “Bill” Reese Thomas, 84, of St. John, died December 1, 1988 in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

He was born July 19, 1904 in Malad, to Joseph Hyrum and Emily Reese Thomas. He was raised and educated in Malad.

He married Dora Rose, May 25, 1928 in Malad. Their marriage was solemnized July 20, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He worked for Crowther’s Mill at Malad for 21 years. He was also a truck driver for Hess Construction. He owned and operated farms at Elkhorn and St. John. For many years he was a livestock dealer and buyer.

He was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed horses and was a member of the Malad Valley Posse.

He is survived by his wife of St. John; three sons, Joseph Don Thomas, Malad; Alfred Lamonte Thomas, Tremonton, UT; William Leon Thomas, Eagle Rock, CA; one stepson, Delbert Allen Leavitt, Malad; two daughters, Carol Doreen Thomas and Mrs. Manuel (Marilyn Emily) Mata, both of Malad; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Walc, Malad; Mrs. Ruth Curtis, Ogden, UT. He was preceded in death by one stepson, seven brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday in the St. John LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Jerry Bush officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
