William Roe dies at Living Center

William Ray Roe, 86, Stone, died Tuesday, March 10, [1981] in the Malad Valley Living Center.

He was born May 19, 1894, in Stone to Thomas William and Lucy Ann Harris Roe.

He grew up and received his education in Stone. He married Lola Eliza Pack on Oct. 7, 1915, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

After their marriage they began farming and ranching in Stone where they have since resided.

He was active in the Delmore Canal Co. for many years and had served as water master, director and president.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as Sunday School superintendent, YMMIA superintendent, twice as a counselor in the bishopric, and was bishop from 1936 to 1952.

Survivors include his wife, Stone; two sons and three daughters: Weston Lawrence Roe, Novado, Calif., and Russell B. Roe, Stone; Mrs. Gerald (Rayola) Palmer, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Jim (Verdeen) Larsen, Fillmore, Utah; and Mrs. Harold (Monette) Pratt, Syracuse, Utah; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Edna Wallace, Elko, Nev. He was preceded in death by a daughter, six brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 21, in the Curlew LDS Ward Chapel in Snowville, Utah.

Burial was in the Snowville Cemetery.
