Funeral Rites For Wm. P. Roderick

SAMARIA – Impressive funeral services were held Thursday for one of our old pioneers, William Roderick, 89, who died March 24, [1942] at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Williard Bailey. He was born July 20, 1853, at Pendeylon, Glamorganshire, Wales. He married Annie Maria Price in Salt Lake and to this union 16 children were born. Eight survive Dave and Dan of Salt Lake, William of Pleasantview, Isaac of Portage, and Sam of Oregon, Mrs. Mary Bailey of Burley, Mrs. Annie Bailey and Mrs. Esther Ashton of Malad. He is also survived by 68 grand children and 87 great grand children.

Bishop D. M. Price conducted the services. Speakers were Lavern Bailey of Butte Montana, a grandson, Owen T. Davis; J. M. Isaacson; Parley John and D. M. Price. Musical numbers were a selection by the St. John male quartet; song, Ellen Williams, vocal duet, Ruel and Ella Ipsen. A biographical sketch was given by John J. Rod, a grandson. The opening * was by Wm. P. Camp and ** benediction by W. E. Morse. The grave was dedicated by Parley Bailey.

Flower girls were grand children and immediate relatives. Pallbearers were grandsons.
