William LaMont Green

GREEN, WILLIAM LaMONT

William LaMont Green, 57, died October 20, 1984 in Pocatello Regional Medical Center following an illness.

He was born July 6, 1917 in McCammon, to Erban and Sara Fairzina “Zina” Lish Green. He was reared at McCammon where he graduated from McCammon High School. He also graduated from Albion State Normal School with a lifetime teaching certificate.

On August 16, 1941, he married Norma Sant at American Falls and this marriage solemnized in the Idaho Falls LS Temple on April 26, 1951. They made their home in Salt Lake City for two years where he worked as a fireman for the Union Pacific Railroad Company. They moved to Pocatello in 1943 and after 30 years of service with the railroad, he retired as an engineer in 1969.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served in various capacities including quorum advisor to the deacons, teachers and priests; Aaronic priesthood secretary; temple reporter; high priest; cub scoutmaster, and he also coached church basketball. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and enjoyed sports. He coached Little league and Pony League ball, was Pony League president and took his little league to Santa Monica, CA, two years for the Western Boys World Series baseball tournament.

Survivors include his wife of Pocatello; a son, Allen L. Green, Pocatello; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Linda Lee) Andersen, Rupert; Mrs. Richard (Cheryl) Cantrell, Kenniwick, WA; Tawna C. Green, Pocatello; four brothers, Lyndon Green, McCammon; Richard and Farrell Green, both of Pocatello; Maurice Green, Tulare, CA; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Rosamond) Henson, Clearfield, UT; Fannie Palmer, Pocatello; Mrs. Bryce (Zina Jane) Goodwin, Brigham City, UT; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, October 22 in the Pocatello LDS 11th Ward Chapel with Bishop Curtis Lee officiating. Burial was in the Norton Cemetery at McCammon.
