William Keith Cottam (Birth – July 28, 1920)
Services for William Keith Cottam of McMinnville, Oregon, were held Saturday in the Chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors. Officiating was Bishop G.M. Monte Fergus of the Dayton Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Private inurment (interment) was in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville.
Mr. Cottam died October 25, 1988, in Adams Adult foster Care, Alpha, Oregon. He was 68.
Born July 28, 1920, in Snowville, he was the son of William and Clara Tippetts Cottam. He grew up and received his education in Idaho and Utah.
He and Clara Coffin were married October 24, 1939, in Preston.
He moved to McMinnville in 1943. He then was employed as an electrician in the Swan Island shipyards.
Mr. Cottam served in the Army during Work War II. He trained at Fort Riley, Kan., and served on Okinawa. Following the war, he lived in Malad.
He returned to McMinnville in 1953. He worked for Engle and Worth Lumber Co. and for a Portland company, Freightliner. He also was self-employed as a logger for several years.
Relatives said he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include five daughters, Myrna Pendergraft and Teena Fergus, both of Dayton, Oregon; Daneice Blanchard of Carlton, Oregon; Tami Livengood of Lafayette; Janet Loerts of Dallas; three sons, Darron Cottam of McMinnville, Rick Cottam of Dayton and Verlin Cottam of Dundee; Darron Cottam’s mother, Norma Young of McMinnville; three sisters, Zelda Funk and Emma Jean Waldron, both of McMinnville, and Gwenivere Hatch of Swan Lake, Idaho; two brothers, Neil La Mon Cottam of Molalla and Delone Cottam of Aumsville, Oregon; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, L. Jay Cottam.
