William Jenkins Evans

EVANS, WILLIAM JENKINS, July 25, 1909 – January 8, 1976

A graveside service for William Jenkins Evans, age 66, was held Friday, Jan. 2 at Samaria City Cemetery with Bishop Melvin Joe David officiating.

Bishop John Roderick delivered the family prayer. A life sketch and scripture reading were given by Bishop Melvin Joe Davis. Alvin Williams offered the dedicatory prayer. Military rites were performed by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.

Casket bearers were Alvin Williams, Brent McCulley, Bland Williams, Ren Thomson, Bill Kevin and Lester Atkinson.

He was born July 25, 1909 in Samaria, a son of William Bowen and Mary Jenkins Evans. He never married. Mr. Evans was a labor and farmer; veteran of World War II; and member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include three sisters; Mrs. Dewey (Naomi) Warner, Lava Hot Springs; Mrs. Alfred D. (Mary) DeVine, Santa Monica, CA; and Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Otis, Huntington Beach, CA.

Graveside services were held in the Samaria Cemetery with military rites.
