Funeral Wednesday For William Hill
William Hill, 79, St. John, died Sunday morning at the Oneida county hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Hill, a son of Matthew and Catherine Nelson Hill, was born at St. John, Sept. 13, 1874. He was reared and educated in St. John and Malad and was married to Phoebe Jones, March 29, 1899 at Malad. Mr. Hill served as an Oneida county commissioner for four years; as a trustee of the St. John school board; watermaster of the St. John Irrigation Co., member of the Malad Valley Irrigation Co. board.
Surviving are five sons and one daughter: Zephaniah, Warren, Floyd, Earl and Ray, all of Malad; Mrs. Mearle Duncan, Pocatello; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Hill, St. John; Edward Hill, Pocatello; one sister, Mrs. John A. Evans, Malad.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the St. John L.D.S. Chapel with Bishop Melvin Yearsley in charge.
Harold Jones offered the prayer at the home; Weldon Jensen, invocation; Arch Harris, benediction; Bishop Yearsley gave the obituary; LuJean Peterson played the prelude and postlude music. The speakers were J.M. Isaacson and Griff Jenkins. The musical numbers consisted of duet, Pearl Monson and Lysle Deschamps; solo, Jerkin Jones; vocal duet, Margaret Boam and Muriel Wilding. Guy Benson dedicated the grave.
Interment was at the St. John cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
