W. H. Stuart Killed in Plane Crash

Funeral Services to Be Held Friday at 2 p.m. At Stake Tabernacle

Lieutenant William H. Stuart, 33, son of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Stuart, was killed in the crash of an army fighter plane at Armarillo, Texas Sunday. The plane crashed while Lt. Stuart was on a routine delivery flight at English field according to an announcement of the ferry division of the air transport command.

The body of Lt. Stuart was brought to Malad today.

Funeral services will be held at the Malad stake tabernacle Friday at 2 p.m.

Lt Stuart was born at Malad Oct 8, 1909, and attended grade and high school at Malad. He went to California in 1927 and has made his home there most of the time since. He married Miss Eth? Rush, June 3, 1932.

Lt. Stuart became an aviator several years before the war. He went to Oxnard, Calif., in 1941, and was assistant flight commander ? the air training center there.

In December, 1941, Crosswind official publication of the “A? Crops Training Center,” Oxnard, Calif., in commenting upon the instructors, said.

“As Assistant Flight Commander, William H. Stuart, the Malad, Idaho, flying genus, has ridden with each of the F Flight cadets, and agrees that they are all worthy of graduating from this detachment. Noted for his instilling confidence in even the shakiest of cadets, he continues to rule as the cadets choice for ‘top-ranking’ instructor in their group.

“With approximately 2000 flying hours, Mr. Stuart continually is repeating the merits of safe flying and it is his belief that one can never become a good flyer until he has perfected all the basic elements.

Besides his wife and parents Lt. Stuart is survived by three brothers, Bartho T. Stuart of Salt Lake, Grant Stuart in the armed forces stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Va, Max Stuart in the armed forces stationed at Compton, South Carolina; six sisters, Mrs. Ellis Harris, Mrs. Paul Mills, and Misses Elsie and Aneta Stuart of Malad, Mrs. Lon E. Smith Twin Falls and Mrs. Jess L*lechn of Provo.
