William E. Stuart Dies Tuesday

William Evans Stuart, age 84, died Tuesday evening at his home of a heart ailment.

A lifelong resident of Malad, Mr. Stuart was a painter and interior decorator for many years before retirement a few years ago. He was born June 15, 1877 at Malad, a son of George and Jemima Evans Stuart. Reared and educated at Malad, he married Mary Ann Thomas, Nov. 16, 1904 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. An active L.D.S. Church worker, he was a High Priest in the Malad 4th Ward and served as a Ward teacher for 40 years. He was a charter member of the Malad City Fire Department.

Survivors are Mrs. Stuart, Malad; the following sons and daughters: G. Bartho Stuart, Ogden; Grant and Max Stuart, Twin Falls; Mrs. G. E. (Hannah) Harris and Mrs. Paul (Merle) Mills, Malad; Mrs. Ralph (Jennie) Cate Compton, California; Mrs. Fenton (Elise) Briggs, Pocatello; Mrs. Lonnie E. (Christie) Smith, Sheridan, Wyo.; Mrs. Leonard (Anita) Swenson, Salt Lake City; also 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one brother and four sisters: Evan Stuart and Mrs. Jemima Opperman of Malad; Mrs. Agnes Burnett, Riverside, Utah; Mrs. Zina Robitaille, Seattle Washington; Mrs. Ann Coleman, Salt Lake City.

Funeral service will be held Friday, may 11, at 1 p.m. at the Malad 4th Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop J. A. Servoss officiating.

Friends may call at the family home, 54 W. 300 North St. Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday until 12:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery. Benson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
