WILLIAM DAVIES PROSSER

UTAH EDUCATOR DIES MONDAY AT AGE 90

Funeral services for William Davies Prosser, 90, well-known Utah educator, are being held today (Thursday) at the Masonic Temple in Salt Lake City under the direction of the Argenta Lodge No. 3 and Frank M. Blish of the First Congregational Church.

Mr. Prosser died Monday [Oct. 31, 1960] at his home in Salt Lake City.

He was born at Genesee, Ill.[Illinois], Sept. 18, 1870, son of William and Mary Prosser. He spent his early life at Burlingame, Kansas and married Mattie John Bracker of Emporia, Kansas August 14, 1895 at Rushville, Mo.[Missouri] They moved to Salt Lake City in 1896. Mrs. Prosser died November 8, 1951.

Mr. Prosser was a graduate of Kansas State Normal School, attended the University of Chicago, Stanford University, University of Utah Law School, graduated from Utah State University with a B. S. degree and from the University of Utah with his maters of science degree. Teaching in the Salt Lake City school system, Mr. Prosser became principal of the Grant School and held the position until his retirement in 1942.

A Mason and member of the First Congregational Church, Bonneville Knife and Fork Club, the Kansas Club, and the Cambrian Society, Mr. Prosser is survived by a grandson, William G. Jenkins; son-in-law, G. L. Jenkins, both of Malad City; sister, Mrs. Miriam Belcher, Belleville, Illinois.
