Willard J. Facer

FACER, WILLARD J., March 8, 1927 – August 29, 1965

Funeral services are scheduled Friday, Sept. 3 at the Malad LDS Fourth Ward for Staff Sergeant Willard J. (Jack) Facer, 38. Bishop J.A. Servoss will officiate. Sergeant Facer died August 29, 1965 of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A son of the late Willard D. and Lucy LaVon Williams Facer, Sgt. Facer was born at Malad March 8, 1927. Educated here, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations aboard a mine layer during World War II. Discharged from the Navy in April, 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in November, 1947 and was stationed at hill Field in Ogden since December, 1963, after serving in Alaska and Iceland.

A member of the LDS Church, he was married to Lucille Cline, June 17, 1959 at Trenton, NJ.

Surviving are his widow, Ogden; three sons and one daughter: Lon Dee Facer, Lynna Lee Facer, LaDell J. Facer, Lane Elmo Facer, all of Ogden; three brothers and two sisters: W. Neal Facer, Layton, UT; Mrs. Ardell Hatch, Wakonda, SD; Sherman Facer with the U.S. Air Force in Italy; Mrs. Carol Allen, Roy, UT; James A. Facer, Salt Lake City.

Interment was in the Malad City Cemetery.
