Funeral Rites For Willard Archibald

Funeral services for Willard Archibald, 66, who died at his home on January 28, 1940 of a stroke were held on Wednesday afternoon in the Malad stake tabernacle. Bishop Guy Servoss of the Malad Second ward presided and members of the Odd Fellows lodge acted as pall bearers.

Musical numbers were furnished by Alden and Sarah Archibald who sang a duet; a solo by Master David Thomas; and solo by Mrs. Margaret E. Jones. Speakers were Moses Christensen, Bishop Rudolph Ruegsegger and Bishop J. M. Isaacson. Invocation was by H. I. Mills and benediction by F. W. Kingston.

Graveside services were conducted by members of the Odd Fellows lodge. Interment being in the Malad cemetery.

Willard Archibald was born on February 18, 1874, at Wellsville, Utah, the son William and Agnes Stuart Archibald. While still a child he moved with his family to Clarkston. He was married in July 1895, to Laura Bigler at Logan, Utah.

In 1898 Mr. and Mrs. Archibald moved to Malad Valley, settling in the Daniels district where they were among the first dry farmers of the region. They farmed there until 12 years ago when they moved to Malad.

He was the father of ten children, nine of whom survive. They are Vern, Bruce and Chester Archibald of Malad City, and Willard, Devere, Arnold and Warren Archibald of Pocatello, and one daughter Mrs. Isabelle Maynard also of Malad. Nine grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Archibald was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge.
