Weldon Jensen, 27 May 1908

Weldon Jensen, age 87, passed away January 14, 1996 at Bountiful, Utah. He was born May 27, 1908 in Mantua, Utah. He was born to Lorenzo and Olivia Peterson Jensen. He married Mary Woozley, July 8, 1932 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Weldon graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City. He also attended USAC (Utah State University) and the University of Utah. He served two missions for the LDS Church, both to the Eastern States Mission, one as a young man in 1919 and later with his wife Mary in 1973. On completion of his first mission he became owner of Jensen Bros. Sheep Co. Later he purchased a cattle ranch in Malad, Idaho. While operating his ranch in Malad, he served as a Bishop’s Counselor, an Oneida County Commissioner and was a member of the Oneida County School Board as well as other civic and church assignments.

The Jensens moved to Davis County in 1956 where Weldon became Chief Building inspector for Bountiful City, was President of the Utah Chapter International Association Conference of Building Officials and the Utah Plumbing Inspectors Association while holding ward and stake positions in the church. He was past president of South Davis Chapter of Sons of Utah Pioneers.

While living in Bountiful, he and Mary served as temple ordinance workers for ten years in the Salt Lake Temple.

He is survived by his wife May of 63 years, daughter Cherrel Budge (Lawrence), Harlowton, Montana; son, Weldon L. (Ren) Jensen (Sharon), Ft. Collins, Colorado; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one sister, Ethel Schaumann of St. Lucy, Florida.

Funeral service will be held January 19, 1996 at the Bountiful 13th Ward Chapel. Interment in St. John Cemetery, Malad, Idaho.
