Wayne Cutler Gunnell

GUNNELL, WAYNE CUTLER

SALT LAKE CITY – Wayne Cutler Gunnell, 74, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Ogden, died May 12, 1986 in Salt lake City of causes due to a previous heart attack.

He was born March 23, 1912 in Wellsville, UT, a son of Charles Brown and Myrtle Cutler Gunnell.

He married Norma Anderson on September 23, 1936 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He graduated from Bear River High School. He graduated from Utah State University and later received his Master’s Degree in church history at Brigham Young University.

He was a former Bishop of the Ogden 9th LDS Ward. He had been high council member in both the Weber and East Ogden Stakes. He held numerous church positions. He served a mission in 1934 to 1936 in the Central States.

He began teaching in 1940 and taught seminary from 1942 – 1969. He was a building contractor in Ogden.

He lived in Ogden from 1947 to 1976 and then moved to Salt Lake City.

Surviving are his widow of Salt Lake City, one daughter, Mrs. Kirt B. (Sara Ann) Adams, Salt lake City, one son, Charles Wayne Gunnell, Salt Lake City; six grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers and two sisters; Darwin Gunnell, Harold Gunnell, Karl Gunnell, all of Mesa, AZ; Don Gunnell, Santa Ana, CA; Grant Gunnell, Camino, CA; Lola Adams, mesa, AZ; Ruth Strong, Mesa, AZ.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Valley View 7th Ward. Interment in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
