Wanda RaeLene Wakley, (1936)

WAKLEY, RAE LENE, DECEMBER 16, 1936 – August 25, 2004

Wanda RaeLene Wakley, 67, passed away August 25, 2004 in the Oneida County Nursing Home after suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She was born December 16, 1936 in Malad City, Idaho, the daughter of Neil and Emma Thorpe.

On September 13, 1952 she married Dee Wakley and they were blessed with five children. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and received her endowments in the Logan Temple.

RaeLene retired in 1991 after working at Thiokol for ten years. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, knitting, crocheting and cross stitching. Her greatest joy in life was her family.

RaeLene is survived by Dee, her husband of 51 years; her children: Deb (Rick) VanBebber; Kim (Mary) Wakley, Kelly (Janis) Wakley, Mark (Sheila) Wakley, Jill (Kurt) Davis; her mom and dad, Neil and Emma Thorpe, all of Malad; two sisters, LaNee (Glenn) Townsen of Phoenix, AZ, Gayle (Clark) Wakley of Tremonton, UT; one brother, Neil E. Thorpe, Niskayuna, NY; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three on the way.

RaeLene was preceded in death by a baby brother, Rodger John Thorpe.

Funeral services were held August 30, 2004 at the Malad LDS Stake Center. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
