STALLINGS, VIRGINIA M., January 23, 1908 – December 10, 2006

EDEN – Virginia (Judy) Mae McEntire Stallings, 98, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 at the Crestwood Care Center. She was born Jan. 23, 1908 in North Ogden, Utah at the home of her grandparents, John and Rachel Woodfield. Her parents, William Rawson and Rosene Woodfield McEntire lived in Huntsville, Utah. Virginia was the oldest of six children and grew up in Huntsville, graduated from Ogden High School in 1926 and Weber College in 1928. That fall she began teaching in the Eden School with 28 students in the first, second and third grades.

She married James (Jim) R. Stallings of Eden, Utah on Jan. 1, 1931. She taught school for two and a half years. Jim and Virginia lived in Eden, Utah and raised four children.

Virginia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For over 70 years she taught the young children in Sunday School and Primary in the Eden Ward. She also served in the presidency of the Eden Ward Relief Society after the death of her husband in 1979. She attended the temple regularly and served in the extraction program for a number of years.

Virginia was a charter member of the Eden Chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was an active member, serving in many capacities. She enjoyed being a docent in the Daughters of the Pioneer Museum of Ogden.

She is survived by two sons, Mack (Rena) Stallings, Eden; Dan (Susan) Stallings, Twin Falls, ID; two daughters, Janet Jensen, Malad, ID; Mary Sue (Keith) Rasmussen, Ogden; also surviving are two brothers, Jay (Carol) McEntire, AZ; and Don (LaRae) McEntire, West Pont, UT; 19 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two sisters: Laura M. Hawkes and Helen M. Slater; one brother, Ross McEntire and a son-in-law, Royal Duane Jensen.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 15, 2006 in the Eden 1st Ward. Interment in the Huntsville Cemetery, Utah.
