Virginia Ann Evans Settles

Virginia Ann Evans Settles, 66, passed away Tuesday evening, May 26, 1992, in Pocatello Regional Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack at her home in Lava Hot Springs.

She was born April 23, 1926, at Reedsport, Oregon, the daughter of Wendyl Richard and Ann Funk Medlock. On August 19, 1949, she married Thomas M. Evans at Jackson, Wyoming, and this marriage ended in divorce. She and Ray L. Settles married at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on April 12, 1968.They made their home in Anchorage, Alaska, until 1981, when they moved to Lava Hot Springs.

For many years Mrs. Settles worked as a public accountant, and was best known throughout Southeast Idaho for her work with Evans Accounting Service. She was a 4-H leader, and greatly enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, of Lava Hot Springs; her mother, Ann (Nanna) Medlock, Pocatello; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Marie and Bert Smith, Holbrook, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Chick (Claralee) Scardino, Titusville, Florida, and Mickie M. Frederick, Honolulu, Hawaii; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two nephews; two nieces; four great-nephews; four great-nieces; three great-great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday, May 30,1992, at 2 p.m. in the Lava Hot Springs cemetery.
