Mrs. Violet Richards “Vi” Medley, age 71, of 953 East 13 Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho, died May 29, 1994, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

She was born July 10, 1922, at Samaria, the daughter of Edward David Richards and Mary Ann Waldron Richards. She grew up in Samaria and attended schools there. She left Samaria at age 17 to work in Pocatello and traveled extensively with her work. She lived briefly in Idaho Falls and Portland, then in Boise, where she worked at Hewlett-Packard until her retirement. She moved to Idaho Falls 2 years ago to be near her family.

She married Theodore Medley and they were later divorced.

She was a member of the LDS Church. She loved to dance.

Surviving is a daughter, Debbie Kay Higley McAlpine, LaParte, IN. Three grandsons, Jason Higley and Willis Higley of Fielding, Utah; Blair Higley, of Malad. Three brothers, Edward D. Richards, Riverton, Utah; Henry Richards, St. George, UT; Ralph Hughes, Malad, ID. Four sisters, Mary Towe, Idaho Falls, ID: Delora Field, Marysville, CA; Leda Jones, Blackfoot, ID: Elizabeth Ballard, Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2, 1994, at 1:00 p.m. at the Samaria Cemetery. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the Malad LDS 2nd Ward in Malad City, Idaho.
Interment will be in the Samaria Cemetery.
