Merle Bailey Christensen, 89, passed away on July 3, 2000, at the Oneida County Nursing Home of complications incident to age.
She was born in Arbon Valley, Idaho, on July 20, 1910, to James Richard Bailey and Anna Leishman Kerr. She was the twelfth child from a family of 13. She attended grade school in Arbon Valley and high school in Pocatello. She married Soren A. Christensen on June 18, 1928, in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 29, 1967.
Merle is survived by her husband, Soren Christensen; five sons: Darrell, Lynn (Marilee), Daniel (Althea), Larry ( Kay) and Alan ( Teresa); a daughter, JoAnn Henderson ( Linford); 29 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister, Edna Arbon.
Merle was preceded in death by a son, Duane; a great-grandson, Dustin; and a great-great-grandson, Andrew.
Merle was an active member in the LDS Church, having callings in the Primary and Relief Society. Merle was a member of the Malad Chapter of War Mothers and the Home Cultural Club.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 7, 2000, in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at the Oneida County Nursing Home for their love and tender care of our Mother.
