DOWNEY, IDAHO – Viola Mary Burton Rumsey, 67, died Jan. 31 [1970] of natural causes in a Downey hospital. Born Feb. 18, 1902, Idaho, to William T. and Mary Simson Burton. Married to Charles O. Rumsey, July 16, 1919, Pocatello; he died March 14, 1964. Member LDS Church. Survivors; sons, daughter, Arnold O., Ray B., William F., Mrs. Rose Williams, all Downey; six grandchildren; brothers, sisters, Alvin, Rupert, Idaho; Douglas, Ogden. Utah; Don, Elward, Mrs. William (Sarah) Moon, Mrs. Blanche Stephens, Mrs. Lloyd A. (Pearl) Bybee, all Downey; Mrs. Myrl (Elizabeth) Hooper, Montpelier, Idaho; Mrs. Lawrence (Marva) Sorensen, Genesee, Latah County, Idaho; Mrs. Ralph Earl (Marion) Draper, Malad, Idaho. Funeral Tuesday 1 p.m., Downey Second LDS Ward Chapel. Friends call Benson Funeral Home. 132 W. 300 North, Malad, Monday 6-9 p.m. and Tuesday, at the church, 9:30 a.m. to time of service. Burial Downey Cemetery.

Downey funeral services for sister of Malad resident

Funeral services were held at Downey Tuesday for Mrs. Viola Mary Burton Rumsey, age 67, who died Jan 31st [1970] at the Marsh Valley Hospital.

She was born at Treasureton, Feb. 18, 1902, a daughter of William T. and Mary Simson Burton. She married Charles Orin Rumsey, July 16, 1919, at Pocatello. He died March 14, 1964. Mrs. Rumsey was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are three sons and a daughter, all of Downey; six grandchildren; four brothers and six sisters including Mrs. Ralph Earl (Marion) Draper, Malad.

Burial at the Downey Cemetery was directed by Benson Funeral Home.
