GOODEY, VERNAL “PETE”

CLARKSTON, UTAH – Pete Goodey, 62, Clarkston, died March 8, 1985 in Logan Utah of a heart attack.

He was born February 12, 1923 in Clarkston to Richard “Archie” and Stella Kirstine Petersen Goodey. He grew up and attended schools in Clarkston. Later, he received technical training as a welder. Other than a short time in Brigham City and Malad, he had lived his entire life in Clarkston.

He served in the Army during World War II. He married Leona Marie Williams April 23, 1947 in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple, June 12, 1957. She died January 22, 1983. He married Leola Christensen February 3, 1984 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He had worked for many years as a welder and mechanic at the Amalgamated Sugar Factory in Garland, Utah. For the past several years, he had been employed with the Morton Thiokol Co.

He was a member of the LDS Church and had served as Elder’s Quorum president and secretary and also in the Sunday School Presidency. He was a home teacher and a High Priest. He ws an avid horseman and had been a member of the Clarkston Mounted Posse.

He is survived by his wife, Clarkston; one son, Alan Pete Goodey, Clarkston; four daughters, Ila marie Goodey, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Gary (Paula) Henrie, Provo, UT; Mrs. Edwin (Annette) Summers and Mrs. Zane (Kristine) Clark, both of Clarkston; two brothers, Alma Goodey and Todd Goodey, both of Clarkston; five sisters, Mrs. Lerwell (LaVonna) Butler, Trenton, UT; Mrs. Dan (Ina) Archibald, Clarkston; Mrs. William (Fae) Hughes, Long Beach, CA; Mrs. Mavis Johnson, Riverside, UT; Mrs. Gene (LaDawn) Bench, Pocatello; and 12 grandchildren.
