Verna Peterson Jones, 72, former Malad resident and wife of David H. Jones, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997 in the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 1, in Malad, with further arrangements and a complete obituary appearing in Thursday’s Idaho State Journal.

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Verna Petersen Jones, 72, former Malad resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 1997 in Ogden.
She was born January 21, 1925 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Joseph F. and Hannah Spence Petersen.
She married David H. Jones March 9, 1943 in Preston, Idaho.
She was a member of the LDS Church. We will remember her sense of humor, her compassion, her faith and her love. She enjoyed being with her grandkids, and they with her.
She is survived by her husband, David H. Jones, Of Ogden, Utah; two daughters, Kristine Mansfield of Centerville, Utah; and Debbie Christoffersen (Melvin) of Bountiful, Utah; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Horsley (Raymond) of Logan, Utah; Verla Rieske of Salt Lake City, and Colleen Camp (Alden) of West Valley, Utah; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Jedd Jones, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
