HOLGATE, VERNA COVINGTON, November 20, 1916 – November 20, 2004

Verna Covington Holgate, 88, passed away November 20, 2004 in the Oneida County Nursing Home in Malad. She was born November 20, 1916 in Orderville, Utah, a daughter of Heber Chase Covington and Louie Lamb Covington. She was reared and educated in Orderville, graduating from Valley High School. She also graduated from Ex-cel-sis Beauty School in Salt Lake City.

She met and married Myron Grandon Holgate November 3, 1938 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They made their home in Orderville where they ranched, raising cattle and sheep. In 1964 they moved to Eagle, Idaho, where they bought a ranch and raised cattle. Her husband passed away June 13, 1984. She has lived in Samaria since 1993.

She is survived by: Marlynn (Karen) Holgate, Samaria, Idaho; Varue (Gene) Wilson, Hurricane, Utah; Dot (Howard) Knobloch, Bowie, Maryland; Delbert Holgate, Nampa, Idaho; Myrna Holgate, Boise, Idaho; and Lynette (Rod) Call, Boise, Idaho; 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

She ws preceded in death by twins, Alice and Allison; two sisters; and one brother.

Services will be held November 26 at the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad. Burial will be November 27 in the Orderville Cemetery, Orderville, Utah. Services are under the direction of the Horsley Funeral Home.
