Mrs. Alvin Smith Dies Wednesday

Mrs. Alvin Smith, age 55, died at her home here Wednesday morning of careinoma following a long illness.

Bishop Lon W. Corbridge will conduct the funeral services at Malad Third LDS Ward, tentatively set for Saturday, July 23rd, at 1 p.m.

Vera Gleed Smith was born here Dec. 29, 1910, to Henry and Emma Thorpe Gleed. She was reared and educated here and married to Alvin Smith Dec. 29, 1934 at Brigham City, Utah. The marriage was solemnized July 9, 1948, in the Logan LDS Temple. An active church worker, she served in the Primary, YWMIA, junior Sunday School, and was work leader in the Third Ward Relief Society.

Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Bardell (Emma Jean) Napier, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Thomas, Donna Gay, Malad; Mrs. Mike (Verlaine) Nicholas, Salt Lake City; Wendell A. Smith, Tremonton; Kenneth Smith, US Armed Forces in Viet Nam; seven grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters, Hubert L. Gleed, John Day, Oregon; Mrs. Arden (Erma) Denny, Sunset, Utah; Miss Leola Gleed, California; Mrs. Frank (Anna Bell) Williams, Henry L. Gleed, Mrs. Wayne (Edith) Archibald, J. Clifford Gleed, all of Malad.
