Velda Lundberg Wood, (1919)

WOOD, VELDA LUNDBERG, September 23, 1919 – May 11, 2006

FIELDING – Velda L. Wood, 86, was reunited with her beloved sweetheart, Thursday, May 11, 2006 after 31 years of separation. She passed away peacefully at the home of a daughter from causes incident of age. She was born September 23, 1919 in Woodruff, ID, to Benjamin and Ruby Howell Lundberg. She was raised in Woodruff and graduated from Malad High School. She married Ray Franklin Wood June 14, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Fielding where she lived the remainder of her life. Dad passed away on May 29, 1975.

Mother has devoted her entire life to her family, to the Lord and in service to others. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including Primary President, Relief Society and MIA. She was an avid quilter and has quilted on and bound many quilts for her family and others. Mother loved music and has sung in many groups and choirs. She also enjoyed reading. If Mom’s life could be put into one word it would be “Love”.

She is survived by her children: Karen (Maurice) Spackman, Fielding, UT; Terry (JaNae) Wood, Casper, WY; Kirk (Rona) Wood, Roosevelt, UT; Byron (Kathy) Wood, Tremonton, UT and Richard (Kathy) Wood, Pleasant View, UT. She has 35 grandchildren and their spouses, 49 great-grandchildren and their spouses and five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clair (Barbara) Lundberg, Hyrum, UT; and four sisters-in-law, Rhea Fuhriman, Logan, UT, Dona Stokes, Tremonton, UT and Marcy Wood, Ogden, UT

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Leon; sisters, Ione Hess and Pearl Monson, one grandson-in-law; father and mother-in-law and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 16 ay 12:00 noon at the Fielding Stake Center. Interment in the Fielding Cemetery.
