Veda Eggleston Jones

Veda Eggleston Jones, 94, died January 29, 1992 in McKay-Dee Hospital after a long and courageous life. She was a wonderful example of love, sacrifice, independence and resourcefulness to all of her posterity. In her last few years she suffered the indignities of age with patience, grace and most of the time good humor.

They made their home on a Cherry /Creek farm seven miles south of Malad. They were the parents of eight children. Her husband died November 1941 leaving her with most of her children still at home.

She is greatly loved and respected and has lived her life in service to family, friends, community and the LDS Church, including many hours of temple work. She was a member of the Oneida County Chapter of American War Mothers and had been active with the Senior citizens.

She is survived by three sons and three daughters, Jack Jones, Blackfoot, Idaho; Edna Thorpe, Layton; Fern Greer, South Weber; Bill Jones, Malad, Idaho; Melba Bloxham, Downey, Idaho; Gerald Jones, Ogden; and a sister, Lottie. She has 30 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, with a total of 119 living descendants and many, many loved ones and friends.
