Valh Ross Mills, Sr.

VAHL ROSS MILLS SR.

Valh Ross Mills Sr., 81, of Malad, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2005, at the Cottonwood Hospital in Salt Lake city, Utah.

Vahl was born July 15, 1923, at Joseph, Utah, the son of William DelRoy and Ruby Ross Mills.

He married Mary LaVeda Williams, July 10, 1946, in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple, March 13, 1965. Vahl was raised and educated in Joseph and Gunnison, Utah. He had also lived in Salt Lake City for seven years, California for 10 years, Bountiful, Utah, for six years, Pocatello for 15 years and last 18 years in Malad.

He worked as a heavy duty equipment mechanic.

Vahl served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Cove Fort, Utah, in 2002. He was a High Priest in the Malad Sixth Ward and served as clerk.

He had served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII from 1940 to 1945 in the 169 1st Ordinance Supply and Maintenance Company.

He enjoyed camping an loved to FISH!

Vahl is survived by his wife, Mary LaVeda W. Mills, Malad, Idaho; one son and four daughters: Ross and Hayde Mills Jr., Salt Lake City; Marylynn Dehner, Boise, Idaho; Shawna and Dave Symes, North Ogden, Utah; Valorie Mills, Salt Lake City, and Cheryl and Frank Sullivan, North Canton, Ohio.

Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ivo Dell Mills, Centerville, Utah. He was preceded in death by is [sic] parents, a brother, Kay Mills; nephews, Rick Mills and David Mills; a niece, Brittany Mills and several uncles and aunts.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 1, at the Malad LDS Sixth Ward Chapel.

Burial will be in the Malad Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, Idaho.
