DEATH ENDS LONG, ACTIVE CAREER OF HENRY ISAAC MILLS

Funeral services for Henry Isaac Mills, 78 who died at his home Saturday, Feb. 19, 1949 after a four-month illness, were held at the Malad Second Ward Wednesday afternoon.

Bishop D. Dredge Thomas presided and Mrs. Myra Jean John played the prelude and postlude. E.N. Crowther offered the invocation and Moyle Facer the benediction; Hugh Griffiths gave the prayer at the home. The speakers were William H. Rutter, Henry E. Thomas, S.A. Hendricks and Bishop Thomas. The musical numbers were furnished by Golden, George and Maroni Ward. Mrs. Golden Ward, Jenkin Palmer and Lowell Hicks of Salt Lake City, S.L. Smith dedicated the grave.

Mr. Mills was born May 15, 1980, at Brighton, England, son of Isaac Mills and Charlotte White Mills. He cam to Salt Lake City with his parents when an infant.

He was married to Mary Lehman, Feb. 1, 1893 in the Logan Temple. He made his home at Centerville, Utah and was engaged in the gardening and produce business until he moved to Malad in 1910. For the past 39 years he was engaged in the farming and livestock business.

He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of High Priest. He served a two-year mission in the southern states in 1905-1906. He was a member of the Malad ward bishopric for 16 years and had been a member of the Malad Stake Sunday School board for the past several years.

Besides his widow, he is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Gladys Williams, Arcadia, Calif.; Isaac Varsel Mills and Lowell S. Mills, San Pedro, Calif.; Marion Crowton, Salt lake City; Mrs. Aline Madsen, San Jose, Calif.; Milbourne L. Mills and Paul Mills, Malad; three half-brothers; Dave Horsley and LeRoy Horsley of Salt Lake City and Ernest Horsley of Malad; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie John and Mrs. Levi Bowers of Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
