TIMOTHY EVAN LEWIS

Timothy “Tim” Evan Lewis of Ketchum, Idaho, passed away February 18, 2011 at the young age of 49 in a car accident a couple of miles from Timmerman Hill on Highway 75, while heading home.

Tim was born October 7, 1961, along with his identical (mirror) twin, Kimball “Kim”, at the St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, CA.  His parents, Wendell Lewis, Garland, UT and Bernice Price, are from Samaria, Idaho.

Tim grew up skateboarding and surfing in Santa Monica and enjoyed spending summers on his family’s ranch in Samaria.  He attended Santa Monica High School, unless the surf was up.

Tim taught himself how to play the guitar at the age of 15 and it became a lifelong passion of his.  Traveling extensively throughout his young life, Tim touched many lives.  After mastering the art of color matching, Tim worked on various projects from Beverly Hills to Arizona and recently in Sun Valley.  Among his proudest accomplishments were his works for Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundations and the Library and the historical stain restoration of the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park.  Tim was passionate about color and loved to share his extensive knowledge.  He was also a consummate salesman.

Tim moved to Arizona ultimately settling in Prescott, where he met Elizabeth “Lissa” Helen Smith Dow and they married on January 7, 1995.  Together  Tim and Lissa built a family including Tim’s older son Corey.  Lissa’s two sons, Alex and Philip and were joined by their daughter, Giselle in 1999.  As music director and youth minister for the American Lutheran Church, Tim reached out to the youth in the community and ran an outdoor program for troubled teens.

After nine years in Arizona, Tim and Lissa moved to be closer to his family, who had returned to Southern Idaho.  He loved spending time with his three adult sons, who also reside in the Sun Valley area.  Tim enjoyed hiking, biking and especially fishing throughout the state.

Tim is survived by his twin brother, Kimball “Kim” (Rafael) Lewis; wife, Elizabeth “Lissa” Lewis, son, Corey Lewis; step-sons Alex Dow and Philip Dow; daughter, Giselle Lewis; ;mother, Berniece Lewis of Malad, ID; sister, Wendy (Gerald) Rees, also of Malad; brother, Greg (Anette) Lewis of arroyo Grande, CA; and nieces, Kristen and Rachel, also of Arroyo Grand, CA.  Tim was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Lewis and his father-in-law, John Stansell.

A memorial was held February 22, 2011 in Ketchum, ID.  As per Tim’s wishes, he was cremated and the family will spread his ashes on the Pacific Ocean at a later date.
