SMITH, THORA SUE, February 24, 1939 – January 16, 2008

SOUTH OGDEN – Thora Sue Smith, 68, died January 16, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. She was born February 24, 1939 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of John Thurston and Dell Peck Owens.

In 1962 Thora married Kenneth G. Sorensen in Ogden. They were later divorced. She married Jay Smith in June of 1976 in Elko, Nevada. Jay preceded her in death on February 22, 2003.

She attended the Ogden City Schools graduating from Ben Lomond High School and Stevens Henager Business School. She was a member of the Pep Club at Ben Lomand High School.

Thora was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings. She enjoyed ceramics, toll painting and eating out.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Mark (Kimberly) Sorensen, Las Vegas, NV; Shana (Mike) Glines, Taylorsville, UT; and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Don L. (Sandy) Owens, Ogden and Dr. John P. Owens, Santa Cruz, CA.

Preceding Thora in death were her parents and her husband, Jay.

Graveside services will be held at the Malad, Idaho city cemetery.
