THOMAS THORPE, 90, DIES MARCH 10

Thomas Thorpe, 90, Brigham City, UT, and a former Malad resident, died March 10, 1979 at his home of heart failure.

He was born Sept. 24, 1888 at Samaria to Joseph and Mary Mason Thorpe. He married Lucy Lovina Walker Jan. 7, 1914 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Thorpe died Sept. 23, 1974.

He was a farmer, active member of the LDS Church, served a mission in Alberta, Canada, and served in the Pleasantview Ward as a scout leader, Sunday School superintendent, Bishop and counselor.

Survivors include two sons and six daughters, T. Calvin Thorpe, Brigham City, UT; Eugene W. Thorpe and Mrs. William (Gladys) Evans, both of Ogden; Mrs. Max (Phoebe) King and Mrs. LaVern (Joyce) Colton, both of malad; Mrs. Nolan (Berniece) Armstrong, Robin; Mrs. Cleone (Lovina) Spencer, Sylmar, CA; and Mrs. Frank (Ione) Latour, Helena, MT; 40 grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Edgar Thorpe, Boise; Mrs. Aaron (Urilla) Christensen, Layton, UT, and Mrs. Clarence (Catherine) Hartley, Ogden.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Pleasantview LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Merlin Bastian officiating. Vocalists were Rolene Gleed and Eldon Corbridge. Accompanying them was Patsy Bybee, who also played prelude and postlude music.
