Funeral Services For Thomas S. Davis

Funeral services were held Monday in the Pleasant View Ward chapel for Thomas S. Davis, well-known farmer of Pleasant View who died suddenly at his home on Friday (23 Sep 1938). Mr. Davis had been in apparent good health up to a few minutes before his death which resulted from acute indigestion and heart failure.

Stuart Davis conducted the services at which invocation was offered by C. E. Thomas. Speakers were Lewis Williams of Boise, Dan Price of Samaria and J. M. Isaacson of Pleasant View. Musical numbers were given by Ruel and Miss Ella Ipsen, Stillman Harris and Margaret E. Jones. Benediction was by David J. Davis of Malad. Interment was in the Samaria cemetery with Wm. P. Camp dedicating the grave.

Thomas S. Davis was the first white child born in Samaria, being born on Sept. 10, 1869, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Williams Davis. He spent his boyhood there and was married to Ann Morse on August 25, 1895.

They became the parents of 7 children, two of whom survive. Mrs. Davis passed away eleven year(s) ago.

After their marriage the Davises made their home in Pleasant View where Mr. Davis engaged in farming. He was a member of the LDS church and has served on the Pleasant View school board.

Surviving are one son, Walter M. Davis of Pleasant View, and one daughter, Mrs. Esther Penning of Los Angeles, Calif., also one brother, S. W. Davis of Malad.
