THOMAS FRANCIS BUDGE

T. F. Budge, 69, Dies of Heart Ailment Tuesday

Thomas Francis Budge, 69, prominent Malad City contractor and builder, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1957, at the Oneida hospital of a heart ailment.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Malad Stake building with Counselor Milton C. Grover of the Second Ward Bishopric officiating.

Mr. Budge was well known throughout southern Idaho for construction of public and church buildings and homes. He built the Oneida Hospital, high school gymnasium and farm shop, Third Ward chapel and stake building, the farm shop building at Downey, and supervised the construction of the First Ward and Oneida County Court House.

He has served as building inspector for the Veterans Administration in southeastern Idaho for the past ten years and has been county surveyor for many years. He was city councilman from 1918 to 1924.

Active in music circles and LDS church work, he was a member of the LDS church, the High Priest Quorum in the Malad stake, clerk of Malad First Ward from 1923 to 1925, counselor in the newly organized Third Ward in 1935. He served in the capacity until 1940.

Mr. Budge was born May 26, 1888, to Thomas and Frances Maria Williams Budge at Pleasantview, Weber County, Utah. He was reared and educated there and was a graduate of Weber Academy. He married Winifred McKay on Dec. 18, 1912, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died June 13, 1953. Five children were born to them.

He married Lurline James November 29, 1956, in the Logan LDS Temple.

Survivors include his widow, Malad; three sons, Morgan, Pocatello; Keith, LaJolla, Calif.; Khalil, Van Nuys Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dixon (Donna) Woodbury, Bountiful; Mrs. John (Lou Jean) Kemp, Berkeley, California; two brothers and a sister, Wm. Arthur Budge, Lewis Budge, Ogden; Mrs. Annie B. Cragun, Pleasantview, Utah; four half-brothers and two half-sisters.
