Odell Walker Burns

ODELL W. BURNS DIES OCTOBER 4

Odell Walker Burns, 64 dies October 4, 1984, at his home in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born January 12, 1920, at Fielding, Utah the son of Albert Charles and Eva Walker Burns.

He married Eva Mae Smith September 25, 1940, at Brigham City.

He had lived at Malad, Idaho; 12 years in West Bountiful and 23 years at Bountiful.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II from 1943-45, serving with the 37th Infantry Division for 19 months in the Solomons, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He was wounded by a sniper’s bullet in the battle for Manila February12, 1945. He received the Philippine Liberation ribbon with one battle star; the Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a member of the American Legion; Ernest W. Jones Post 65, Malad, Idaho; and DAV James R. Thomas, Jr. No. 6.

Survivors include his wife of Bountiful; one son and one daughter, Terry O. Burns, Centerville, Utah, and Mrs. William (Dorothea) Bennett, Greeley Colorado; 9 grandchildren.

Also three brothers, Walter Burns, Garland, Utah; Frank and Ferrell Burns both of Bountiful, Utah; five sisters: Louise Nielsen, Deweyville, Utah; Mrs. Francis (Nelda) Riedel, North Salt Lake; Mrs Tobe (Helen) Hall, Ogden; Mrs. Dave (Norma) Thomas, Garland; Mrs. Hardy (Lueen) Christensen, Bountiful.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 8, at Lindquist Bountiful Chapel.

Intermet was in the Farmington City Cemetery under the direction of Lindquist Bountiful Mortuary.
