Thomas Cleon Edwards

Thomas Cleon Edwards, 80, peacefully passed away at home on July 17, 2012 surrounded by his family.

Cleon was born on August 21, 1931 in Malad City, Idaho, the son of Warren and Kate Edwards. He was one of 10 children, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He was raised on the family ranch in Pleasant View Idaho, where he grew up as an adventurous and hard working farm boy.

He graduated from Malad High School where he was an outstanding athlete excelling in football and boxing. It was during high school some sixty-five years ago, when he met the love of his life Ruth Elaine Smith. On October 19, 1949, they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. She was a devoted and loving wife and he was a hard working, supportive husband. Cleon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in church callings over the years and thoroughly enjoyed his relationships while serving as a high priest.

Over the years they put down roots in Idaho, Montana and Utah. He worked as an insurance salesman and in the securities industry as trader for over 30 years and upon retirement, bought part of the family ranch and moved back to Malad City. Always a hard worker, you felt like you were always running to keep up with. He was most content when he was working the fields in one of his tractors or his big red combine. He was always excited to talk with others about the current crop conditions, controlling noxious weeds, picking rye and the current weather forecast and how nice it would be to get a good soaking rain, but only if there was no hay cut waiting to be baled.

Cleon is survived by his son Ken (Deborah) Edwards, and daughters Patty Mahoney, Julie Allen, Janet (Jeff) Dursteler; along with 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Cleon is also survived by two brothers (Ren and David) and three sisters (Kathleen, Donna Gayle, and Carol Anne).
