Thelma Jones Evans

EVANS, THELMA JONES, June 13, 1902 – October 9, 1981

Thelma Jones Evans, 79, Malad, died Friday evening, Oct. 9 in St. Anthony Community Hospital, Pocatello.

She was born June 13, 1902 in Malad to John T. and Margaret Caldwell Jones. She attended schools in Samaria and Malad. She married Jonah Morse Evans Nov. 15, 1919 in Malad. The marriage later was solemnized in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They ranched in the Malad Valley and he also was an electrician and plumber. He died Sept. 29, 1975.

She was a member of the LDS Church serving in many positions. She also was a War Mother.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters: Rex Dean Evans, Portland, OR; Robert Jones Evans, Las Vegas, NV; Edison Jones Evans, American Falls, ID; Melvin Jones Evans, Ketchum; Jane Evans Price, Malad, and Ila Dell Bird, Ogden, UT; 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; a brother and three sisters: Robert Jones, Lewiston, ID; Kate Ware, Ogden, UT; Hannah Roderick, Eugene OR; and Marge Hyde, Downey.

Funeral services were held October 13 at the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel with Counselor Ren Dives officiating.

Burial was in the Malad Cemetery.
