LEONARDSON, DR. T. DOUG, September 7, 1970 – June 12, 2006
Dr. T. Doug Leonardson, DDS of Longmont, CO died Monday, June 12, 2006 from injuries sustained in a single engine plane crash near Kansas City, MO. He was 35 years old.
He was born September 7, 1970 in Fillmore, Utah to Arliss and Donna (Riding) Leonardson. Doug grew up and attended schools in several cities between Utah, Idaho, and Montana before graduating at C.M. Russell High School in Great Falls, MT in 1988.
In October of 1989 he married Melissa S. Ray in Great Falls, MT. Doug went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Montana State University in Bozeman. He worked as a mechanical enjineer for two years in Corpus Christi, TX before entering the dental school at the University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio, TX. Following a two-year residency in Texas, Dr. Leonardson received his endodontist certificate. He moved to Superiot, CO in 2001 where he started a endodontist practice in Westminister. The Leonardsons moved to Longmont in 2002.
Dr. Leonardson was a member of the Colorado Dental Assoc., the American Dental Assoc. and the American Assoc. of Endodontists.
Doug loved spending time with his family and they all enjoyed doing many of the same hobbies together. These hobbies included wakeboarding, snowboarding and mountain biking. He taught them to enjoy life and to never be afraid to try new things. His most recent interests were road cycling and flying. If he could say anything to those in his life it would be “Live Strong”.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , where he served mostly in the youth and scouting programs. He was an awesome man!
He is survived by his wife Melissa; a son, Garrett Leonardson; two daughters, Hailey and Courtney Leonardson, his father Arliss W. Leonardson of Vaughn, MT; mother and step-father Donna and Rex Waldron of Malad, ID, three brothers Charles Leonardson of Woodland, WA, Russell Leonardson of Idaho Falls, ID and Matthew Leonardson of Pocatello, ID; six sisters, Diana Kirkham of Idaho Falls, ID, Jackie Kennedy of Mission Viejo, CA, Alane McMurtrey of Superior, CO, Andrea Atkinson of Preston, ID, Kathryn and Karen Leonardson of Vaughn, MT. As well as many other extended family members and close friends.
Funeral services were scheduled for 10:00 Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Longmont, 1721 Red Cloud Dr., Bishop David Richards officiating. Interment followed at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
