SYLVIA JEAN JOHNSON

Jean, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away October 10, 2011 in Murray, UT at the age of 82. Jean was born in Salt Lake City, UT on August 10, 1929 to Robert Cole and Sylvia Stratton. Her early childhood and young adult years were spent in Malad City, ID where she attended school and graduated from Malad High School. She worked many years for the telephone company in Malad and then later in Salt Lake City, UT.

She married Mace Johnson on August 3, 1953. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage of 58 years has been a shining example of true love and commitment. She loved her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. Her often shared words of wisdom were always given with love and concern.

Jean was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she faithfully served in many capacities. She had an unwavering faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, and exemplified it by the way she lived. She certainly knew the true meaning of the words, “endure to the end.”

The family wishes to thank the IMC Respiratory ICU doctors and staff for the expert care and compassion during her final hours.

She is survived by her husband; children, Debbie Hymas (Ed); John (Nanette); eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob Stratton.

Funeral services will be October 15, 2011 at noon at the Riverside 1st LDS Ward, Murray, UT. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
