Stella Bowen Price, 89, 472 Willard, died Saturday evening [Jan. 19, 1985] in a local rest home following an extended illness.

She was born Nov. 28, 1895, at Samaria, to David John and Mary Sophia Smith Bowen. She attended schools at Samaria, Arbon and Logan, Utah.

On Dec. 17, 1913, she married John D. Price at Arbon and in 1914 they homesteaded a farm in Crystal and later bought a ranch on West Fork. In 1938, they bought a ranch at Pauline where they lived until 1951, when they moved to Pocatello. Upon the death of their daughter, Elaine Roper, she helped raise her granddaughter, Mrs. John (Jackie) Kildew of American Falls. Mr. Price died in 1975.

She was a charter member of the Arbon LDS Ward and served as president of the Relief Society and at other callings and was instrumental in the development of the church in Arbon Valley. At the time of her death, she was a member of the 17th Ward.

She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, and being a visiting teacher.

Survivors include three sons, J. Boyd Rice, Reno, Nov.[Nevada]; Dean B. and Jay D. Price, both of Pocatello; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Lois) Clark, Pocatello, three sisters, Elizabeth Dunn, Pocatello; Ellen Whipple, El Paso, Texas; Mary Bush, Malad; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the LDS 17th Ward chapel with Dean Price officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel. On Wednesday, friends may call at the 17th Ward chapel from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery.
