Sidney James Folland

FOLLAND, SIDNEY JAMES, November 15, 1892 – October 9, 1969

Masonic funeral services were conducted Monday at the Malad Second LDS Ward for Sidney James Folland, age 76, who died October 9, 1969 at the Oneida Hospital of a heart ailment.

Worshipful Master John D. Tovey, Malad Lodge AF& AM No. 51, presided and offered the invocation and benediction. Speakers were Griff L. Jenkins, who gave the obituary and Lorin G. Folland. Vocal solos were sung by Jenkin L. Palmer and Helen E. Jones, accompanied by Myra Jean John, who also played prelude and postlude music.

Dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery was offered by Railford G. Benson and Malad Lodge AF&AM No. 51 conducted graveside rites.

Military rites and honor guard were provided by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post, with David John and Larry John as buglers.

Casket bearers were Roland T. Evans, T.D. Jones, John V. Evans, Morgan Tovey, Sr., E.L. Scott and Frank Thomas with World War I Veterans serving as honorary bearers. Flowers were arranged by Acacia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Mary Matthews, Worthy Matron.

Benson Funeral Home directed the interment.

Mr. Folland was born November 15, 1892 at Salt lake City, a son of Henry and Martha Urie Folland.

He married Vera Peck November 13, 1913 and she died August 19, 1924 He married Helen Davis July 23, 1932 at Rexburg.

Mr. Folland was a graduate of West high School, Salt Lake City; a veteran of World War I; member Malad Lodge No. 51, AF&AM; member American Legion, Malad Lions Club; member LDS Church. He owned and operated the Folland Garage until retirement.

Survivors include his widow, Malad; a daughter, Mrs. J.H. (Nadine) Kime, South Laguna, CA; two grandchildren and a brother, Lorin G. Folland, Salt Lake City.
