LOGAN, UTAH_Shirley Atkinson Naylor, 81, of Logan passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010, in Logan. She and her twin sister were born on Memorial, May 30, 1928 in St. John, Idaho, the daughter of Frank and Lillian Atkinson. She was the oldest of five children. She was a member of the LDS Church and had served in many church positions. The calling she enjoyed most was being the coordinator in the Junior Sunday School. She loved telling the children stories and teaching them songs. Shirley worked many jobs in her lifetime and retired after more than 30 years as the switchboard operator at Logan Regional Hospital.’
She played piano and violin and was very talented at both. She liked to sew and made many crafts, clothes and quilts for all her children and grandkids. She loved sports and was one of the best women’s softball pitchers in Cache Valley. She also was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz and enjoyed watching all of their games. She traveled across the United States with her twin sister and spouse. She also traveled to Germany and Hawaii.
Shirley loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed their visits and spending time with them.
Mom was a sweet and generous person and helped others when she could. She is survived by five of her six children and their spouses: Aura Dee and Mike Larson; Jennie and Richard Folkman; Leland and Betty Naylor; Cordell Taylor; Tara Cito; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Devon; her parents; and a brother, Frank.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, May 12, in the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
