Baby died in car fire Sunday at Mack’s Inn

Shawna Lee Riggs, eight-month-old daughter of John Leon and Narvey Mae Swindle Riggs was dead on arrival at Fremont County Hospital, St. Anthony, of burns sustained in a car fire Sunday [July 11, 1971] near Macks Inn at Island Park. The baby had been left alone in the car. The fire was discovered about 4 p.m. by two loggers, according to Fremont County Deputy Sheriff Dale Smithies.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Pleasantview LDS Ward Chapel by Bishop Roger Facer with burial in Pleasantview Cemetery directed by Benson Funeral Home.

The baby was born Nov. 11, 1970, at Pocatello.

Surviving are her parents; her grandparents, John H. Prescott and Mrs. Evalyn Prescott, both of Pocatello; and Mr. and Mrs. Gloma Swindle, and a great-grandmother, Mrs. J. M. Isaacson, Malad City.
