Shaundel DeNae Taylor Richards, 35, passed away March 27, 1985 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Shaundel was born September 9, 1949 to Elmer B. and DePhane Taylor in Malad City, Idaho. She grew up and was educated in Malad and graduated from Malad High School where she was active in the Pep club, Dragonettes, Cheerleading, School Plays, and received many awards for her outstanding abilities. She was one of five finalists in the “Miss Malad Pageant” in 1966. She enjoyed playing the piano and violin.

Shaundel attended Ricks College for two years and worked in West Yellowstone, Montana during the summers. She enjoyed being an actress in the Little Theater there.

She moved to Salt Lake City to further her education and seek employment where she has lived for the past fifteen years. On November 11, 1978 she married Gerald J. Richards Jr. They have two sons, Zach and Tyler. Shaundel and Gerald were later divorced.

Shaundel is survived by her mother, DePhane Taylor, Malad, Idaho; two sons, Zach and Tyler, Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. F. Brent (Janeece) Stock, Bountiful, Utah; Mrs. Gary (Marlys) Carter, West Yellowstone, Montana; grandmother Mrs. Annie Taylor, Spanish For, Utah; Nephews Jeff Carter, McGarin and Brandon Stock; Nieces, Sue Carter, Tiffany and Tauna Stock.

Shaundel was preceeded in death by her father.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 30, 1985 at 1:00 p.m. at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Ed E. Jones, Brandon Stock, Kimball Tayler, Megarin Stock, Mark Richards and Lane Taylor.

The family prayer was given by Blake Taylor, followed by the invocation offered by F.
Brent Stock. Hope Price performed a piano solo “Clare DeLune”, after which Gary Carter told her life sketch.

A son “Nature’s Easter Story” was sung by Tiffany and Tauna Stock. Jeff Carter then spoke followed by Jill Blaisdell, who sang “Memory” and was accompanied by Donna Jean Salvesen. Don Buehler offered the benediction.

Compassionate service and care of flowers was by the Relief Society, Pauline Kent, president.

Concluding services were at the Malad City Cemetery where Scott Robertson offered the dedicatory prayer.

An evening tribute was held on March 29, 1985 in Salt Lake City.

The life sketch was told by Deanna Hughes, remarks were offered by Jerry Richards Jr., Zach and Tyler Richards gave a Rose Tribute to Mother and Noelle Robertson performed a musical number.
