SARAH MABEL EVANS JONES

Mrs. Mabel Jones died unexpectedly Monday evening at 10 p.m. of a heart ailment.

Mrs. Jones had spent the day in Ogden with her family and was in apparent good health when she returned home. Her daughters took her to the Oneida hospital just before 9:00 p.m. and she died an hour later.

Funeral services will be held Friday, tomorrow, at 2 p.m. in the Malad stake building with Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr., conducting. Friends may call at the Benson Funeral Home tonight, Thursday, and Friday prior to the service. Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery.

Sarah Mabel Evans Jones was born December 25, 1895 at Malad, a daughter to Richard and Alice Evans Evans. She was educated in Malad schools and was a member of the L.D. S. Church. She married Lyman D. Jones at Malad November 19, 1916. He died in March, 1934. The family lived at Malad continuously except for 13 years when they lived at Idaho Falls and in California.

Mrs. Jones was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of the Ernest W. Jones Post, Malad.

Surviving are two sons and five daughters: Mary Denee Jones of Ogden; Richard M. Jones of Whittier, Calif.; Betty Alyce and Helen Jeane Jones, both of Malad; Thomas Lyman Jones of Sacramento; Mrs. Nellrae (Babs) Glenn of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Iris Dawn Abbott, Wenatchee, Washington; eight grandchildren; one brother and one sister; Eli Evans and Mrs. Maude Anderson of Malad.

Funeral Service was conducted Friday at the Malad LDS Stake building for Mrs. Sarah Mabel Evans Jones, age 65, who died on June 20th (1960).

Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr. officiated. Family prayer was offered by Harold E. Thomas. At the chapel the invocation was offered by Wm. H. Rutter and the benediction by Rex Harris. W. W. Thomas was the speaker and Griff L. Jenkins read the obituary. Eldon Corbridge and Jenkin Palmer sang solos accompanied by Myra Jean John. Charlotte Evans played the prelude and postlude organ music.

Raiford Benson offered the dedicatory prayer at the Malad City cemetery. Flowers were carried by friends directed by the Fourth Ward Relief Society. Bearers were Jack E. Anderson, Ren Dives, G. R. Thomas, Neil Jones, Robert Hess and Frank Thomas.
